What Will Change?

OVERVIEW: Moving from core Boost to the Boost Union Theme introduces a subtle refinement rather than a full overhaul to Moodle 4.5. This update optimizes screen space, eliminates navigation friction, and simplifies daily workflows for faculty and students. Here are the key visual and usability fixes you will notice right away:

  • Stay in place when you enable Edit mode. No more jumping to the top of the page, then scrolling back to where you were.
  • Instantly move to the top of any page with the Back to Top button, which is located right above the Help icon.
  • Navigate course content seamlessly with section buttons. Move sequentially to the previous or next section, or use the dropdown menu to jump directly to a specific section.
  • Track your course status with visual indicators that flag hidden courses and alert you when you are in student view.
  • Search globally or course-wide (depending on your starting page) to find text, files, and activities with the magnifying glass in the red bar.
  • Navigate the optimized Gradebook grid with ease. Hover over any truncated name in the header row to view the full text, or collapse any column to save screen space or narrow your focus.
  • Easily access Starred courses from the star icon near your Moodle Profile. Remember: You can Star this course on the My Courses page.

  • Remember: Revise your Moodle Profile information and image (as needed) to update the Contact Information block in your course. Set your image once, and it will populate to all your courses.
