This Faculty Learning Community (FLC) will focus on building and teaching with equity-aligned, student-centered syllabi. We will learn about and apply a variety of equity tools using a framework adapted from CUE's Syllabus Review Tool and the Learner-Centered Syllabus Toolkit. In this FLC, we will explore this framework, apply it to an existing syllabus via an inquiry process and peer feedback, and reflect on the impact of the framework(s) on student learning. Improvements in syllabus design and use can result in increases in academic confidence, sense of belonging, and course completion for students. These increases are even higher in students from historically marginalized communities and beginning college learners.
